Two criminals nabbed after exchange of fire

The duo have several cases related to drug smuggling and snatchings registered against them

A team of Ludhiana Crime Branch nabbed two criminals after an exchange of fire near Phullanwal Chowk here around 1.15 am on Sunday.

When the police tried to stop them at a naka, the criminals fired at them and tried to flee on their scooter. In retaliation, the police team also fired at the criminals, during which the duo sustained injuries in their legs.

The police seized illegal weapons, live cartridges from both them and took them to the Civil Hospital.

Additional DCP, Crime, Amandeep Singh Brar said that the miscreants had been identified as Gagandeep Singh Gaggu and Mandeep Kumar Mithu. The duo had several cases related to drug smuggling and snatchings registered against them. Recently, they had snatched a chain of woman at Sixth Sense Spa near Aarti Chowk in Ludhiana.

The ADCP revealed that the late night operation by the Crime Branch was led by Inspector Rajesh Kumar, under the supervision of ACP, Crime, Rajesh Sharma.
