Two held for bid to murder painter, father

The Dehlon police claimed to have nabbed two of the three miscreants booked on the charge of attempt to murder a painter of Dehlon village and his father, an auto-rickshaw driver, on Sunday evening.

The duo were identified as Rajinder Singh Ravi of Assi Kalan village and Jaspal Singh of Dehlon village. Identity of the absconding assailant, who had allegedly fired three bullets from his pistol, is yet to be ascertained.

Dehlon SHO Kanwaljit Singh said auto driver Jagdev Singh of Dehlon village and his son Avtar Singh had been beaten mercilessly by the miscreants, one of whom had fired three shots from his pistol at Kilaraipur road in Dehlon on Sunday evening. Two of the assailants were identified.

As per the FIR registered against the accused under Sections 109, 115 (2), 3 (5) of BNS and Section 25 of the Arms Act late on Sunday evening, a group of miscreants had intercepted and attacked Avtar when he was returning home on Sunday evening.

The suspects thrashed Jagdev Singh too when he stopped to rescue his son. They used sticks and rods, besides a pistol to attack the victims.

According to Jagdev, the accused fled when passers-by started gathering at the scene and Avtar was shifted to a hospital with the help of his close friends and passers-by.

The police said the past criminal record of the suspects, if any, was yet to be ascertained and attempts were being made to identify the absconding person. Weapons used in the crime were yet to be recovered.
