Ludhiana police claimed to have busted a gang involved in several incidents of stealing tyres from the city and arrested five of its members. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Urban/Rural) Rupinder Singh, ADCP Kanwalpreet Singh Chahal, ACP Gur Iqbal Singh, SHO SI Amarjit Singh and Station House Officer of Police Station Division 8 addressed a press meet regarding the matter on Tuesday.

The suspects were identified as Gurjit Singh, Shivraj Singh, Manoj Kumar, alias Amit, Balwinder Singh alias Jashan, and Mandeep Singh, alias Deepu. A total of 31 tyres with rims were recovered from the suspects, along with a car, which was used in various crimes.

The DCP said during interrogation, the suspects made revelations about other crimes in addition to the tyre thefts and investigation was going on in the matter. The police suspected that after stealing tyres of vehicles, they used to sell them to their clients at cheap rates. The police would identify such customers and stolen tyres would be recovered from them.
