UP man kills wife for hiding first marriage

The murder of a 21-year-old woman, Radhika, has been solved by the police. The probe revealed that the victim had hidden the fact of her first marriage from her husband Sunil, which made him angry. In a fight over the matter, Sunil strangled Radhika and fled the scene.

Her body was found late on Tuesday evening in her rented house in the Fatehganj locality. Sunil and Radhika did a love marriage at a temple four months ago and were now planning to register the marriage in court. During this period, Sunil came to know about Radhika’s first husband.

A CCTV footage has emerged in which the suspect was seen walking down the street with a bag on his shoulder in the wee hours of June 9. The police have registered a case of murder against the man.

Sunil is a native of Gonda district of UP. He married Radhika four months ago. Both of them worked at a factory. Earlier, Sunil used to live in a rented house. He had shifted to Fatehganj only four days before the incident.

On Tuesday, foul smell was emanating from Sunil’s rented house. Following which, residents informed the landlady, Gurvinder Kaur, and Radhika’s brother Krishna, who lives nearby. When they went inside, the room was locked. Krishna broke the lock. Radhika’s body was lying on the floor and her hands were tied with a cloth. Police Division 3 SHO Aditya Sharma said a probe revealed that Radhika was already married before tying the knot with Sunil but she did not tell him about it. Her family said both were married but they did not have any legal proof.
