The agenda of the meeting was to press for their long-pending demand for a hike in the internship stipend of veterinary interns.
Currently, veterinary intern doctors are being paid Rs 500 per day, a remuneration the union has termed inadequate and unfair. The amount is significantly lower than the internship stipend provided to MBBS and BDS interns in the state as well as veterinary interns in neighbouring states such as Haryana (LUVAS), Rajasthan (RAJUVAS), and Uttar Pradesh (BHU).
The union has formally demanded that the stipend be increased to Rs 24,310 per month.
