Waiter robbed of bike, mobile by six masked robbers

A young waiter became the target of a brazen robbery on Monday night near Gahaur village in Dakha.

Sukhraj Singh, a resident of Detwal village, was robbed of his motorcycle, mobile phone and hard-earned money as he returned home after his shift from a Mullanpur marriage palace.

As the victim traversed the road connecting GT Road to Gahaur village, six individuals, with their faces covered with masks, ambushed him. They were on two motorcycles, swiftly surrounding Sukhraj. Brandishing a weapon, they instilled fear in him, leaving him with no choice but to surrender his belongings. The robbers seized his motorcycle, his mobile phone and Rs 800 cash he carried.

After committing the crime, the suspects escaped, speeding off in the direction of Ludhiana. Afterwards, Sukhraj sought help, reporting the incident to the Dakha police.

Responding to the victim’s complaint, officials from the Dakha police station reached the scene to initiate a probe.

Dakha DSP Varinder Singh Khosa confirmed that a case of snatching had been registered on Tuesday. He emphasised the police’s commitment to swiftly identifying and apprehending the culprits. The police started examining the footage from

CCTV cameras installed throughout the area. They hope these would provide clues to identify the robbers and they would be arrested soon.
