Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Saturday criticised Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for justifying his government’s action to prevent Rahul Gandhi from visiting residents staying across the Ravi in the Gurdaspur area.

Interacting with the media after presiding over a series of meetings in connection with ‘Sangathan Sirjan Abhiyaan’ here, the PCC president said it was unfortunate that even after 75 years of attaining independence, a political leader was prevented from meeting people living on the edge of the border. More unfortunate thing was that the Chief Minister was justifying the decision in the state legislature.

Warring also dismissed the Chief Minister’s claim that Rahul was stopped from crossing the river in a boat as the water flow was too fast. He said the state government in collusion with the Central Government had deliberately stopped him from reaching out to those people who remain cut off from the mainland for most part of the year.
