Winners of various events feted at agri varsity
On the concluding day of the Kisan Mela, several farmers and organisations were felicitated for their entries in various agricultural produce competitions and exhibition displays.
In the crop produce competitions, Jarnail Singh from Jagatpura village secured the first prize in the onion category, while Teerath Singh of Sandaur village stood second. In the garlic category, Subhash Chand from Ahmadpur village bagged the first place, followed by Sukhwinder Singh of Mankhera. Harpreet Singh from Chhabri village won in the tomato category.
In the potato competition, Arshdeep Dhillon of Kararwala village secured the first prize, while Navdeep Singh of Malikpur Bet village won the second place. Jalpala Singh from Lehra Bega village won in the peas category, and in carrots, the top two positions went to Nardeep Singh Bhullar from Mehmoodpura and Surinderpal Kaur from Nagra.
In the cauliflower category, Malkeet Singh from Hayat Nagar bagged the first place. Parmjeet Singh from Jalberi Gehla won the first prize in the turmeric category. For strawberries, the first prize went to Jaskaran Singh of Kauni, while Harshpreet Singh from Birarwal won for ber (Indian jujube). In sugarcane, Rudrashri Godara from Panch Kosi village bagged the top spot.
In marigold, Jasmeen Kaur of Ballowal village won the first place, and Balbir Singh of Kot Khalsa came second. For chrysanthemum, Satnam Singh from Aulakh won the top honours. In kinnow, Ajaypal Singh of Sukhchain stood first. Satnam Singh also won in jaggery, while Khushpal Singh of Manadhuri triumphed in the sugar category. Tanish Nain from Bodhiwala Pitha village won the guava competition.
In field demonstrations, the Department of Vegetable Science ranked first, while the departments of soil science and fruit science stood second and third, respectively.
Among the youth groups, FASC, Barnala, won the first prize, followed by Hoshiarpur, and Tarn Taran.
In the stall competitions, Preet Directors Pvt Ltd topped in farm machinery, while GSA Industries secured the first place in tractor-mounted machinery.In agro-processing machinery, KC Marketing secured the top spot, while Chambal Fertilizers Ltd and Crystal Crop Protection Ltd won in the fertilisers and pesticides categories, respectively.
