Ten PhD and two MVSc (Master of Veterinary Science) researchers of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, received the best MVSc and PhD thesis award. The women vet wing of the Indian Veterinary Association (IVA-WV) organised the best MVSc and PhD Thesis Award Ceremony 2025 in collaboration with Bihar Animal Sciences University, at Bihar Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute, Patna. The event marked the first-ever national platform to honour outstanding research across all 18 disciplines of veterinary and animal sciences in India.

The event garnered a significant national response, with 347 thesis (224 MVSc and 123 PhD) submitted from renowned national institutions. A panel of 40 prestigious experts conducted a rigorous and transparent review process, resulting in the selection of 67 PhD and 78 MVSc theses for the prestigious best thesis awards from 2019 to 2024.

The landmark award ceremony inspired the presence of women veterinary doctors representing every state of India, truly reflecting the diversity and unity of the profession. Vet varsity researchers named Dr Gurjot Kaur Mavi, Dr Monika Thakur, Dr Rashmi Thakur, Dr Sreekala S Mohandas, Dr Nimbalkar Vidya Gajanan, Dr Samikshya Sarangi, Dr Sundus Gazal, Dr Akshita Chadda, Dr Shikha Chaudhary and Dr Tulumoni Seal for the best PhD thesis. Two MVSc researchers, Dr Habbu Aishwarya Sunder and Enamika Rani, were awarded. — TNS
