Hyderabad, March 7
The Wanaparthy police have arrested a 27-year-old schoolteacher for allegedly raping 11 minor girls for over two years. Besides committing the crime at the private school where he taught, he also targeted them at his house where he had been coaching the victims for admission to government-run gurukul schools. All girls, Class IV students, are aged 10 or 11 years.
The matter came to light when the grandmother of one of the victims saw bloodstains on her clothes and enquired about the matter. She lodged a complaint with the police, leading to the arrest and confession by the teacher.
DSP Kiran Kumar said the offence was highlighted when another girl complained of some health problem and wanted to see a doctor. The girl told her parents that she was raped by the schoolteacher. Her parents came to know that there is another girl, who too was abused by him.
The case has been registered on the complaint of these two girls. The police are trying to locate the other victims based on the confession of the teacher.
Kumar said the police were shocked when the teacher confessed to raping nine other girls over the past two years, but said he could not remember their identity. Some of the girls were raped on the school premises.
The police said the accused used to ask the girls he targeted to stay back after school hours and committed the crime once other students and staff members left.
The teacher hails from Nagarkurnool, but moved to Wanaparthy in 2018.
