Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has demanded that the Andhra Pradesh Government provide Rs 1 crore ex gratia to the family of Lance Naik Sai Teja (29), who died in the helicopter crash along with CDS Gen Bipan Rawat and others. TDP president and former CM N Chandrababu Naidu said Teja belonged to Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh and that it was the state’s duty to look after his family. TNS

24 tribals consume beef, face boycott

New Delhi: Twenty-four tribal men in Kerala’s Idukki district have been allegedly socially ostracised by the “oorukoottams” (council of tribals) for allegedly consuming beef, which is against their custom. The police said the incident was reported from Marayoor forest areas in this hill district and the authorities of the local self government and tribal department were trying to resolve the issue.
