New Delhi, May 16
The CBI has arrested two oficials of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) in Ahmedabad for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 3.5 lakh from a person, who is into medical device manufacturing.
According to CBI sources, the two arrested officials are Parag Bhushan Gautam, medical device officer of CDSCO, Ahmedabad, and his colleague R Mohan.
The two accused had carried out an inspection of the complainant’s unit in respect of issuance of a medical device manufacturing licence (MD-9) and allegedly demanded Rs 3.5 lakh for “showing him favour”, officials in the CBI said.
The person, who is the manufacturer of medical devices, lodged a complaint, following which the CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting the bribe, they said. The CBI also conducted searches on the premises of both accused and recovered over Rs 25 lakh cash and some documents from there, the officials said.
