Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari today said the government would build 26 green expressways in three years and the country’s road infrastructure would be as good as that of the US by 2024.

During the Question Hour, the minister said: “One will be able to travel from Delhi to Dehradun, Haridwar and Jaipur in two hours, from Delhi to Chandigarh in two and a half hours, Delhi to Amritsar in four hours, Delhi to Katra in six hours, Delhi to Srinagar in eight hours, Delhi to Mumbai in 12 hours and Chennai to Bengaluru in two hours.”

He called himself the “father of expressway toll plazas” for having approved the first one in Maharashtra during his stint as a state minister in 1990s.
