Sharma said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had directed the IT responders of India to create an open-source version of CoWIN free of cost to any interested country.

CoWIN portal is now available in 12 languages to ensure everyone can register and get vaccinated.

Built for scale, CoWIN glided through the incoming traffic on June 21, 2021, (the day India launched free vaccine for all adults drive) as it hit a peak of 1.83 million API calls per minute at 12:04 pm.

This meant handling over 30,000 API calls per second.
