Around 80 Muslim leaders of the BJP in Madhya Pradesh today resigned from the primary membership of the party in protest over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, calling it a “divisive” measure. One of the leaders, Rajik Qureshi Farshiwala, said the leaders wrote to BJP national president JP Nadda regarding this. “It became difficult for us to participate in our community’s events after the CAA came into existence. Persecuted refugees of any community should get Indian citizenship,” he said. — PTI

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
