Andhra anti-corruption wing books former Advocate General for buying land in Amravati for profit

Andhra Pradesh Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has booked former Advocate General Dammalapati Srinivas on charges of abusing his official position and buying land for his family and acquaintances in Amaravati capital region knowing that the area will be announced as the state capital.

The ACB has charged Srinivas with purchases based on information received by him in his official capacity that former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was going to announce a capital city for Andhra Pradesh at Amaravati. 

Srinivas was booked under Sections 409 (Criminal breach of trust) and 420 (Cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

He bought land through his brother-in-law, father-in-law and other acquaintances during the period of June 2014 to December 2014 ACB said in the complaint. The bureau also said that he later bought land for himself and his wife in 2015 and 2016. All these properties were located either in the Core Capital area or within the limits of Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA).
