Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah today greeted the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram on their statehood day and hailed their contribution in the country’s progress.

The PM, while addressing an event to mark the day, said, “The government has done unprecedented work to speed up development in Arunachal Pradesh and asserted that modern infrastructure is being built there considering the state’s role from the national security perspective.”

Earlier, the PM tweeted, “Greetings to the people of Mizoram on their Statehood Day. India takes great pride in the vibrant Mizo culture and the contributions of Mizoram to national progress.”

In his message to the people of Arunachal Pradesh, he said, “It has been his firm belief that eastern India, particularly the North-East will be the engine of the country’s development in the 21st century. The Centre is working to make Arunachal Pradesh a major gateway to South East Asia.”

Meanwhile, Shah noted that Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram got the status of state from UT on this day in 1987. “Greetings to our sisters and brothers of Arunachal Pradesh on their Statehood Day. The state is blessed with immense natural beauty and hardworking citizens,” he tweeted.

In another tweet, he said, “Extend my warm wishes to the people of Mizoram on their Statehood Day.”
