Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday appointed Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and his Rajasthan counterpart Ashok Gehlot as party observers for the upcoming Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat, respectively.

Baghel will be assisted in the poll management by former Rajasthan Deputy CM Sachin Pilot and former Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa as observers. For Gujarat, the Congress has appointed Chhattisgarh Health Minister TS Singh Deo and former MP MIlind Deora as observers attached with Gehlot.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
