Pithoragarh: A bailey bridge collapsed when a truck carrying a JCB machine tried to cross it around 50 km from the LAC, an official said on Tuesday. The truck driver and the JCB operator were injured as the 40-foot bridge, built in 2009, collapsed under their combined weight, the Munsyari SDM said. Legal action would be taken against the truck driver, the official said. Around 15 border villages of Johar Valley have been cut off and construction of another bridge would take at least 15 days, the SDM said. — PTI

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
