BJP leader shot dead in Jabalpur

Jabalpur: A local BJP leader was shot by unidentified assailants in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district, the police said on Wednesday. Suresh Burman (50), former BJP SC/ST Morcha Mandal president, was shot in the head by two motorbike-borne men at Khitola, 50 km from the district headquarters, on Tuesday night, the police said. PTI

Suspended judge held in sodomy case

Jaipur: The police on Wednesday arrested a judge, who was suspended after being booked for allegedly sexually exploiting a 14-year-old boy. Bharatpur SP Devendra Kumar said the accused was called for interrogation and was later arrested. Jitendra Singh, posted as special judge in a court handling corruption cases, was suspended on October 31. PTI

Temporary firecracker market gutted in UP

Bahraich: A major fire broke out at a temporary firecracker market set up ahead of Diwali in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, gutting all shops, the police said. Shopkeepers estimated the damage due to the fire at Rs 50 lakh. ASP (Rural) Ashok Kumar said no casualty was reported. PTI

Prime Minister Modi to visit Kedarnath tomorrow

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kedarnath, Uttarakhand, on November 5. He will offer prayers at the Kedarnath Temple and inaugurate Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi and unveil the statue of Adi Shankaracharya. Modi will also address a public rally at the temple town. TNS
