The actor starred in several films — “Jab We Met”, “Kai Po Che!”, “Black Friday” and “Parzania”. He also acted in web series “Paatal Lok”.

Asif had reportedly taken two houses on lease on the Jogibara Road and was staying here with his UK-based girlfriend. At 10.30 am, the actor stepped out of his house with his pet dog for a walk. When he didn’t return, his girlfriend went looking for him. She found his body hanging on the roof of his second house, it is learnt.

Asif, a regular visitor to McLeodganj, would spend months at the hill station. He was often spotted at cafes. Kangra SP Vimukt Ranjan said Asif’s girlfriend informed them about the incident. “The actor’s body was found hanging. He used his pet dog’s leash,” he said. The police said preliminary investigation suggested he was suffering from depression. —TNS
