Northern Army Commander Lt Gen YK Joshi on Wednesday flew over ‘Batra top’ in Sukhoi 30MKI to pay homage to Captain Vikram Batra.

Batra Top is ‘Pt 4875’ a mountain top, along the Line of Control (LoC), which is named after Capt Batra, a Paramveer Chakra (PVC) awardee.

He had led the charge of his troops of the 13th battalion of the ‘JAKRIF’ Regiment of the Indian Army.

Lt Gen Joshi—then a Colonel was commanding the Battalion—was awarded a Vir Chakra.

Capt Batra had sent a signal ‘Dil Maange More’ during the capture of Pt 5140 that had made him a youth icon.

He was killed in action while capturing Pt 4875, now christened as Batra Top.
