The government informed Parliament that cyber volunteers were being roped in only for the purpose of assisting law enforcement agencies. Replying to a question in Rajya Sabha, MoS for Home G Kishan Reddy said: “The ‘Cyber Crime Volunteer Framework’ has been rolled out as part of the cyber hygiene promotion, as per which citizens can contribute in the fight against cyber crime.” TNS

‘Imperialism of Internet’ unacceptable: Prasad

Union Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that any attempt to create “imperialism of Internet” by certain big companies would not be tolerated. Answering supplementary questions on banning of Twitter accounts in connection with the farm agitation, Prasad said the government had no problem with dissent, but would not allow misuse or abuse of social media. Gadkari blames farm stir for highway delay

Minister of Road Transport and Highway Nitin Gadkari has blamed the 113-day farmers’ protest at the Singhu border for delay in the completion of national highway connecting Delhi and Punjab. Responding to a question by Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh in the Lok Sabha regarding non-completion and delay in construction of flyovers, bridges on the highway, Gadkari said from the Mukarba Chowk to Panipat work on 14 flyovers was at different stages of construction.
