The DefExpo scheduled to be conducted in Gujarat will now be a five-day affair, as it stands extended by a day. It will be conducted from March 10 to March 14, with the formal inauguration being on March 11.

The decision to extend the event by one day has been taken by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who also launched the DefExpo 2022 mobile app. The DefExpo organised by the Ministry of Defence is the largest exhibition on land, naval and homeland security systems.

So far, 930 exhibitors have registered for the mega event. More than a 100 foreign companies have booked space for the expo which is conducted biennially. Some 55 countries have so far confirmed participation at the event. All major military equipment makers have booked space. The expo will be spread across 1 lakh sq m.

Marque events include an investment by venture capitalist where start-ups will make their pitch.

Meanwhile, the threat of imposition of sanctions by the US, notwithstanding the DefExpo-2022 US firms will have the largest participation. —
