New Delhi: Diesel price in the Capital was on Thursday cut by Rs 8.36 per litre after the state government rolled back VAT or sales tax from 30 per cent to 16.75 per cent to help city’s economy recover from the impact of Covid-19. Diesel will now cost Rs 73.64 per litre. The government had on May 5 hiked VAT on petrol to 30 per cent from 27 per cent and on diesel from 16.75 per cent to 30 per cent. — PTI

HC stays Jaitly’s 4-yr jail term for graft

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday stayed the four-year jail term awarded to Samata Party former president Jaya Jaitley in a 2000-01 case corruption case related to a purported defence deal, her lawyer said. The court sought CBI’s response on Jaitly’s appeal challenging her conviction and sentence. — PTI
