Another Delhi-based diplomat, Bapak Ferdy Piay, Deputy Head of Mission at Indonesian Embassy, passed away in Jakarta due to Covid-related complications.

Piay had been airlifted to his home country on April 27 at the height of the second Covid wave here and could not be saved despite prolonged hospitalisation.

Among senior mission officials, diplomats from Tanzania and Slovakia have also died after contracting Covid here.

“The leadership, exemplary and kindness that you have poured out while serving in India will be the best increase that will not be forgotten,’’ said the Indonesian embassy in a condolence statement.
