Air India might shut in six months

Mumbai: Struggling Air India might be forced to shut down by June next year unless it finds a buyer as “piecemeal” arrangements cannot be sustained for long, according to a senior airline official. Amid continuing uncertainty over the fate of the national carrier, the official said there was also need for funds to restart operations of 12 grounded narrow-body planes. INSIDE

PAN-Aadhaar linking deadline extended

New Delhi: The last date for the mandatory linking of the Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar has been extended till March next year, the CBDT said on Monday. The earlier deadline was Tuesday, December 31. PTI

Minor fire at PM’s residential complex

New Delhi: A minor fire broke at 9, Lok Kalyan Marg, inside the residential complex of the Prime Minister, but his residence and office were not affected by it, the Prime Minister’s Office said. The fire has been brought under control, the PMO added. PTI

Dera head Bhaniarawala dies at 61

Ropar: The controversial dera head Baba Piara Singh Bhaniarawala (61) died at his dera in Dhamana village near here on Monday. According to information, Piara Singh felt pain in his chest during the wee hours and he was taken to a private hospital in Mohali where doctors declared him brought dead. TNS
