Five killed in blast in TN fireworks factory

Madurai (TN): At least five persons, including three women, were killed in a blast at a private fireworks factory here on Friday. Citing initial probe, the police said chemicals which were being mixed and stuffed caught fire due to friction leading to a series of explosions, severely damaging the structure. The victims were charred to death. Several other workers managed to escape to safety, the police said, adding fire service units from Virudhunagar and Srivilliputhur were used to put out the blaze. The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
