Noting that the efforts are on to make investigation more efficient and scientific, officials in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said, the government is committed to upgrading six central forensic science laboratories (CFSLs), which are located at Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bhopal, Pune and Guwahati, with capacity enhancement.

“The MHA has decided to enhance the capacity of six CFSLs under the Directorate of Forensic Science Services in the area of forensic psychology involving external experts,” a senior ministry official said.

An MoU has also been executed between the Directorate of Forensic Science Services, New Delhi, and Institute of Behavioural Sciences, Gujarat Forensic Science University (GFSU), Ahmedabad, to jointly carry out research activities.
