The Union Cabinet today approved signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Uzbekistan for cooperation in the field of solar energy, including manufacturing of equipment, implementation of projects and technology transfer.

In an official statement, the government said as per the decision, which was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the main area of work would be to identify “research/demonstration/pilot projects” between the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, India, and the International Solar Energy Institute (ISEI), Uzbekistan, in the mutually identified areas.
