In 3 years, Jagdeep Dhankhar had several run-ins with Didi
New Delhi, July 16
Jagdeep Dhankhar, whose candidature as NDA’s vice-presidential candidate was announced on Saturday, has been in the limelight since he became Governor of West Bengal in July 2019. He has had frequent run-ins with the Mamata Banerjee government.
Microblogging site Twitter served as a useful tool for Dhankhar to embarrass Banerjee as he relentlessly posted his remarks showing the state government in bad light.
However, the last meeting between them was a cordial one. Dhankhar met Banerjee in the presence of Assam’s BJP Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at the Raj Bhavan in Darjeeling on Wednesday. No sparks flew there and the three had a warm and friendly conversation.
Mamata has called a meeting of all the members of the party in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha at her Kolkata residence on July 21 to discuss the subject of the election for the post of Vice-President. Incidentally, Banerjee did not call a meeting of TMC legislators before she took the initiative to unite various Opposition parties to jointly choose a candidate for the post of President.
