Bamako: A Malian woman, Halima Cisse, 25, gave birth to nine babies on Tuesday — two more than doctors had detected inside her crowded womb — joining a small pantheon of mothers of nonuplets. “The newborns (five girls and four boys) and the mother are all doing well,” Mali’s Health Minister Fanta Siby said. — Reuters

TN Guv invites Stalin to form govt

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Wednesday invited DMK president and legislature party leader MK Stalin to form the next government in the state. The swearing-in will be a simple function held at Raj Bhavan at 9 am on May 7. — PTI
