New Delhi, October 24

Just when India is planning to resume global Covid vaccine supplies, new data places it among the top 10 vaccine-donating nations in the world.

The latest analysis by the Duke Global Health Innovation Centre shows that the US leads on the number of vaccine shots pledged for donation, while India leads globally on the percentage of pledged doses actually shipped.

The data shows that in cumulative terms, the US has pledged 1,193.92 million doses (119.39 crore) to other countries, followed by the EU which has pledged to donate 134 million (13.42 crore) doses.

The next on the list are France which has pledged 12.02 crore doses followed by China (10.59 crore), Germany (10.01 crore), UK (10 crore), Japan (7.19 crore), Italy (4.5 crore), Spain (3.75 crore) and India (1.09 crore).

The analysis of actual donations by countries, however, shows India leading with the highest percentage of pledged doses that were shipped. India has already shipped 66% of all Covid doses it pledged to donate, followed by China (46%) and Japan (34%).
