India has again insisted that Kulbhushan Jadhav should be represented by an Indian lawyer for filing a review petition against his death sentence in Pakistan, said MEA spokesperson Anurag Srivastava.
“On this issue, we are in touch with Pakistan through diplomatic channels,” he acknowledged while stating that besides an Indian lawyer representing Jadhav, Pakistan also needs to first address the core issues such as giving copies of relevant documents of the case and providing unimpeded consular access to Jadhav.
Only then will Pakistan abide by the letter and spirit of ICJ judgement of ensuring a free and fair trial, said Srivastava.
