India reacted to developments in Kazakhstan by expressing its condolences to families of “innocent victims who have lost lives in the violence”, hoping for an early stabilisation of the situation.

MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, “India is following the recent developments in Kazakhstan and the Indian embassy’s coordination with the authorities has helped ensure the safety of Indian nationals. They are advised to follow local security instructions and get in touch with the embassy for any assistance.”

The demonstrations in Kazakhstan began on January 2 over inflation. — TNS
