An ITI student allegedly stabbed to death two sisters and injured a third near their house as they were going to a computer centre in Shivji Colony area of Taleda town in Bundi district on Saturday evening.

The deceased women were identified as Pooja Goswami (24) and her younger sister Priyanka Goswami (22), Bundi SP Shiv Raj Meena told The Tribune on Sunday.

“The women were attacked with a sharp-edged weapon and stabbed multiple times by the suspect. Pooja died on the spot, while Priyanka succumbed to her injuries at a Kota hospital, where she was referred from Taleda,” he said.

To attack the third woman, the eldest sister Rekha (26), the suspect entered their house and stabbed her. However, she survived, and is in a local hospital. There was a fourth sister, too, in the house, but she managed to escape and hide in a neighbour’s house, the SP said.

The suspect, Mahesh Rathore, was said to be a “dharam bhai” of all sisters, but allegedly used to harass Pooja on her way to college. Recently, he had a quarrel with the family over “eve-teasing” charges.

Mahesh was a frequent visitor to the victims’ family. He absconded after the attack, and the police are on the lookout for him in the adjoining districts of Kota, Baran and Tonk, the SP said.
