New Delhi, March 5

The Rajya Sabha was on Thursday adjourned for the day immediately after completion of the Zero Hour due to protests and unrelenting sloganeering by Opposition members over the Delhi violence.

With his repeated requests to maintain the decorum falling on deaf ears, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said: “This is Parliament, not a bazar.” He said he would not be “forced” by tactics of Opposition members.

Soon after Health Minister Harsh Vardhan made a statement on coronavirus, the members entered the Well of the House raising slogans over the Delhi riots.

Opposition members, whose names were called to submit their Zero Hour’s mentions, were reluctant to heed to Naidu apparently due to the prevailing disorder. Naidu reacted, saying the members who did not make their submissions would not be given opportunity during the entire Budget session. — TNS
