Jaishankar’s first day of engagement was devoted to interactions at the UN where India is expected to provide revised timelines of vaccine delivery to poorer countries having defaulted on its original commitment.

In Washington, Jaishankar will be meeting State Department officials but will have to wait for US Secretary of State Tony Blinken to return from his trip to the Middle East. Blinken left for Jerusalem, Ramallah, Cairo and Amman on Monday.

As per the Ministry of External Affairs, most of the Minister’s focus will be on vaccines including two meetings with major vaccine manufacturers to sort out the wrinkles in vaccine exports to India.
