The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended elevation of Justice PV Sanjay Kumar of the Punjab and Haryana High Court as the Chief Justice of Manipur High Court. The number of judges in the High Court with his elevation will go down to 48 against the sanctioned strength of 85.

Justice Kumar was elevated as a permanent Judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh in January 2010.

Consequent upon his transfer, Justice Kumar assumed charge as a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in October 2019.
