Kejriwal visits UP as AAP prepares to fight assembly elections

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP head Arvind Kejriwal landed in Lucknow on Monday for a two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh to give a boost to his party’s preparations for the upcoming Assembly election in the State.

He will offer prayers at Saryu Ghat in Ayodhya this evening and visit the make-shift temple of Ram Lalla.

Subsequently, he will lead a procession organised by his party.

However, before Kejriwal’s arrival in Lucknow, AAP MP and in-charge of UP affairs Sanjay Singh gave a twist to the visit, saying he had reports that the ruling BJP is aiming to scupper it.

He asked the BJP to desist from alleged political machinations against Kejriwal’s visit.

Reacting to Kejriwal’s visit and Singh’s allegation, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi took a jibe saying, “With elections drawing near, lost souls will tramp here and there for salvation. They will neither get the benediction of the Almighty or the people. Law of Karma haunts them because of their past deeds.” 

Singh’s allegation has been dismissed by BJP leaders as an attempt to create “artificial hype” to arouse curiosity among the public which is not paying any heed to AAP leaders.

AAP has announced it would contest the UP election.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had recently visited Ayodhya and offered prayers at the Ram Lalla temple along with Singh.
