The naval variant of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) made a maiden landing on the deck of aircraft carrier INS Vikrant on Monday

Complex procedure

Landing on the deck of an aircraft carrier is a complex procedure. The landing space is 200 metres and the jet coming in to land has to be restrained using a set of three ‘arrestor wires’. In Navy parlance, it is called ‘arrested landing’.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
