Lieutenant General Nav K Khanduri has been appointed as the next General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Chandimandir-based Western Command.

He is the first officer from the Army Air Defence to be elevated to the rank of Army Commander. Lt Gen Khanduri will take over from Lt Gen RP Singh, a Guards officer who superannuates on October 31.

Earlier, Lt Gen Khanduri has served as the General Officer Commanding, 33 Corps in the north-east and as Director-General of Operational Logistics and Strategic Management, at Army Headquarters. Commissioned in December 1983, he is an alumnus of the Rashtriya Indian Military College and the National Defence Academy. — TNS
