Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has convened a special session of the Maharashtra Assembly on July 3 and 4.

The agenda will include election of a new Speaker, which is likely to take place on Sunday (July 3), followed by a “vote of confidence” in the new government on Monday (July 4), according to sources.

BJP MLA Rahul Narvekar filed the nomination on Friday for the post of Assembly Speaker, an official said. Election for the post, if needed, would be held on July 3, when the special two-day session of the House would begin, he said. The position has been vacant since Nana Patole of the Congress resigned from the post in February last year.
