The Telangana Police have arrested five people on the charges of acting as couriers for the Maoists under the banner of CPI (Maoist). The police arrested them from Bhadradri-Kothagudem district of Telangana and were reportedly frequenting the state from Chattisgarh, from where they belong.

Police said the five were seen moving suspiciously in Cherla area of the district and were nabbed by a patrolling party when these suspects could not explain their movement an official said. Interrogation revealed that they were working for the CPI (Maoist) for the past four years. 

Police said the five came to Bhadrachalam town to buy cloth for Maoist party uniform. It alleged that the Maoist leaders were sending innocent tribals to Telangana from Chhattisgarh to procure material including explosives for their needs. 

Tribals from Chattisgarh were also being sent by the Maoists for various “action and recce operations”, police said. Telangana police is on the watch list of the Maoists and they have ambushed as well as had encounters with the Telangana police.

The Grey Hounds of the Telangana police have been very successful in anti-Maoist operations in the recent past. On October 18, two Maoists were killed in the Mulugu districts of Telangana. Hey were 

Identified as 30-year-old Ravva Ramal, Manuguru area committee member, and dalam member Lakma. They were involved in several cases and carried a reward on their heads.
