‘Dhal gaya din, ho gayi raat’, the popular chartbuster of the 1970s from movie ‘Humjoli’ has made its way to training sessions for new police recruits in Telangana, courtesy Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohammad Rafi.

Incidentally, the song was sung by legendary singer Mohammed Rafi, with whom the ASI shares his name. Five decades down the line, the ASI has made the tunes part of parade drill sessions at the police academy.

In a video that is fast getting viral on social media and has the netizens in splits, the police official can be seen moving around on ground with the recruits to the tunes of the evergreen song.

The video was tweeted by senior IPS officer Anil Kumar while he praised the drill instructor:  “Hats off to the drill instructor.”

The video has been viewed over 1 lakh times.
