Preparations for the Monsoon Session of Parliament starting July 19 began on Saturday with ministers calling on presiding officers of both Houses and discussing the proposed plans for the session.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and ministers of state for parliamentary affairs V Muraleedharan and Arjun Ram Meghwal also called on the Speaker separately.

Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu has called leaders of political parties for a meeting on Saturday evening while the Lok Sabha  Speaker will hold the leaders’ meeting on Sunday to discuss agenda items for the session.

Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have published the business schedule for day one of the session which will see Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduce the new ministers besides the oath-taking by newly elected members of both Houses.
