Mulayam's 2nd wife dies after brief illness

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav’s second wife Sadhana Gupta died at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Saturday. She was suffering from fever and lung infection for the past few days, the Samajwadi Party (SP) said.

Sadhana Gupta was the mother of Mulayam’s younger son Prateek Yadav and mother-in-law of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Aparna Bisht Yadav. At the time of her death, the SP founder was with her, undergoing treatment at the same hospital, party sources said, adding the body was being brought to Lucknow.

“Samajwadi Party’s mentor and respected Netaji’s wife Sadhana Yadav passed away today. This is very tragic. Condolences,” the SP announced on Twitter, which party chief Akhilesh Yadav retweeted.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
