Citing unavoidable circumstances, the First Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court failed to “assemble” today, leading to deferment of hearing in the case filed by the CBI against bail granted to TMC leaders in the Narada case.

The Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Arijeet Banerjee is hearing the CBI plea to transfer the bail applications from the Special CBI Court to the HC.

On Monday night, the HC stayed the CBI court’s decision to grant bail to West Bengal ministers Subrata Mukherjee and Firhad Hakim, Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra and former Mayor of Kolkata Sovan Chatterjee.

The four leaders were arrested on Monday morning. The case is being investigated by the CBI following an HC order.
