NASA’s attempt to showcase diversity backfired after an Indian-origin intern was mocked for posing with Hindu idols in a photo.

USA’s top space agency, NASA had posted a tweet with four photos as a reminder for its fall applications for internships.

The post on Twitter showed photos of four diverse interns and was simply captioned, “Today’s the day: applications for fall NASA internships are due!”

However, some people mocked the photo of the Indian-origin girl for having Hindu idols next to her laptop in the photo for equating religion with science.

There were many people who came out in her support too and she received a wave of support from India.
