Dr Arzu Rana Deuba, wife of the visiting Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairperson of Safe Motherhood Network Federation Nepal, visited the AIIMS, New Delhi, on Saturday and interacted with experts.

Dr Arzu Rana, First Lady of Nepal and the Chairperson of Safe Motherhood Network Federation, Nepal, was accompanied by a Nepalese delegation, which sat through a presentation on advances in reproductive health research, gynecology and obstetrics and mother and child health in India.

Interaction was held regarding women’s health services at the AIIMS. The visiting dignitary was very appreciative of the work being done by the AIIMS and was keen on collaboration with the institute in terms of manpower training and technical support that could be a great asset to Nepal’s Safe Motherhood programme.

The meeting from the Indian side was attended by Director (officiating ) AIIMS, Prof Dr Neena Khanna; Dean (Academics) and Head of Dermatology, Dr. D.K. Sharma; Medical  Superintendent, AIIMS, Dr. Neerja Bhatla; Head, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Dr. Aarti Vij; Chairperson, Protocol Division and Media Cell; and Gynecology faculty Kallol Roy, Neena Malhotra, Vatsala Dadhwal and Garima Khadgawat.

Anoop Daga, Additional Professor, Hospital Administration and Project Officer, Mother & Child Block, AIIMS, was also there.

From the Nepal side there were Dr Arju Rana Deuba (First Lady), Prakash Bahadur Deuba (Personal Secretary of Nepal PM), Dr Ram Padarath Bichha (Health Adviser to the PM), Shail Rupakheti (Personal Physician of the PM and Council of Ministers) and Revati Paudel (Deputy Chief of Protocol).
